Rainier Audubon members have participated in National Audubon’s annual Christmas Bird Count (CBC) since 1980. See past Rainier Audubon CBC results below. Information about the upcoming CBC, for those wishing to participate, will usually appear on this site in October, November and December, as well as in those Heron Herald online newsletter issues. All are welcome to assist with this longtime citizen science project.
RAS members have also taken part in National Audubon’s Climate Watch Survey, the City of Kent’s Green River Natural Resources Area Bird Census, National Audubon’s Great Backyard Bird Count, Puget Sound Bird Observatory’s Wetland Secretive Bird Survey, Seattle Audubon’s Puget Sound Seabird Survey, and a quarterly bird survey at the City of Auburn’s Mary Olson Farm.
