SUMMARY:Greenlight America
DESCRIPTION:by Nora Harren \n\n\n\nWashington has some of the nation’s strongest clean energy goals\, yet the state is falling behind in building the renewable energy and storage projects needed to meet growing electricity demand. At the same time\, many of the most important decisions about where and how these projects are built are happening at the local level. \n\n\n\nGreenlight America (https://www.greenlightamerica.org) is a non-profit organization that mobilizes community support for responsibly sited\, large-scale clean energy projects and policies at the local level. Nora Harren\, Greenlight America’s Oregon and Washington Regional Campaign Manager\, will join the September 21 Rainier Audubon meeting to discuss the current clean energy landscape in Washington\, the role of local advocacy in the clean energy transition\, and how community voices can influence decisions that protect both wildlife and our climate. We’ll explore why this moment is so important and how members of Rainier Audubon Society can engage in local efforts to support the clean energy transition.
