Rainier Audubon chapter is looking for field trips to offer to the community. We’d like to offer more trips on the calendar. We want to reach out to folks who like to go birding, but maybe haven’t felt they are at the level of being a leader. Maybe one way to get started would be if Rainier did a field trip made up of a few neighborhood spots people know about that are good places to go birding. I live by the Soos Creek Trail, and I know it is pretty birdy, so that could be one of the locations.
If there’s a local place that you like to go, let me know. If you’d like to, you could team up with family or friends. For the trip we’re thinking of, interest level is much more important than identification skill.. Some of our seasoned field trip leaders have indicated they would be willing to team up with folks who are interested.
If you have any interest in making your group’s trip a reality, or have other ideas for a trip and want to collaborate, please let me know. I will work to facilitate bringing teams together to get outings on the calendar.
Thank you, Heather Gibson
